Fancy Dress

For those who are not aware, I have been working in a fancy dress shop for the past six months, selling their wares, fixing and altering stuff and often knocking out the odd thing or two. Now anyone else that knows me will know I love dressing in fancy dress, and more often than not don't even need an occasion, god I'm so kerazzzzzzzzzzzzzy!
Anyway, A month ago I had to alter a large men's Freddie Mercury outfit to fit a young boy, I was all oh it might be a bit big, but his Gran said, just see what you can do, Freddie is his hero.
Anyway i altered it and a few weeks ago, the lady called in to tell me how pleased she was with what I did (and the whole staff in general) she did refer to me as the little foreign girl (bless her) which has given me a new work nickname! She brought a photo in after that, but I wasn't in, so she came back the next day with a few more to show me other photos, it was well sweet. I am glad a little bit of stitching could make someone so happy, plus know he gets to grow into the outfit and keep it FOREVER! And this is me in a cape I made:
And Nickie in a shirt I customised for her:

Blankety blank

...home alone, I decided it was time to sew all these knitted pieces (that never quite became the finished piece) together!

Another little blanket to add to the big blanket I have been piecing together over the past few years of Knit and Destroy. Here are big blanket and little blanket together on the sofa!

Now it's time for me to get under it and get warm, mmmmm. K x

Alison Erika Forde

My friend Alison Erika Forde is a super rad painter, who is going to have a super rad year in twenty ten, she has also just got a website finished by Knit And Destroys super ace wing man Ben, in the words of The Beastie Boys ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out !

I wish I had the...

Last week Kandy told me about a competition launched on Harry Hill's TV Burp. We have all seen the knitted creature, right (that looks a little crocheted to me, anyways) well, now you can send in your knitted (and I think crochet) creations, which then get judged my a knitted Simon Cowell and Cheryl Coles amongst others, then you win Harry Hill goodies. We were unsure whether this was fo'realz until Saturday night proved it wasn't!
I am sad that this is a crafty competition I cannot enter as I am really, really
bad at kitting and have only just mastered a chain in crochet, le sigh. We did spend most of yesterday morning thinking what Kandy could knit to enter.
So while I sit here and wish and she sits there and ponders, you have until 5pm tonight (Tuesday) to vote for Amos & Ruth .
